In our gallery we are now showing a selection of artworks from The Old Masters Collection – both Polish and European. Among the paintings presented there are examples of the greatest masterpieces of Polish painting, including “Portrait of the Artist’s Mother” (1853) – Henryk Rodakowski’s famous work.
Other paintings on the display are Jan Matejko’s works, among them “Portrait of the Artist’s Son on Horseback” (1882), Aleksander Gierymski’s works with “Gate of the Old Town” (1883), Leon Wyczółkowski’s “Game of Croquet” (1895) or “Fisherman” (1896), as well as Stanisław Wyspiański’s “Sleeping Mietek” (1904).
The exhibition was prepared with the objects belonging to the family collection of Kazimierz Bartoszewicz, which gave birth to the museum’s collection, as well as with works that had been collected and owned by the Łódź industrialists.
